Muitas bandas me influenciaram como escritor naquela época, Alice in Chains, Tool, Color Haze, Joy Division, Quest for Fire, Deadbird, Fates Warning, Riverside, Van Der Graaf Generator, Pearl Jam, Anathema ...

What is the reason for the band name?

Pure fun!

For those who have never heard the band, can you make a brief summary of the band (musical style or band history)?

Well, we are a rock trio trying to keep both our music and our live performance interesting for both sides – us and the audience. Seeing all those people being so pumped to see us play makes me think we’re doing things the right way mostly!

Any complicated / curious story or any problem involving the trio, since it was always this format?

Once we were playing on a boat in France - a real freaking boat used as a music venue!

Influences to compose: what are they?

We try to keep it fresh and challenging to ourselves, but being creative doesn’t mean throwing everything in the kettle. I mean we all listen to wildly eclectic music, but you won’t find all of it in our songs, for better or worse. But being open-minded sure helps see things differently, it makes you ready for the whole new world of musical opportunities, and this is very, very exciting.

How do you feel coming to Brazil again in such a short time?

Really looking forward to come back! The first time was a total blast, so it's obvious we're really excited to make it happen again.

What album are you celebrating - Seven Thunders Roar - does it mean for you? And the cover art?

"Seven Thunders..." is approaching cult status now, so it's really hard to see it as it is, with all its flaws and occassional missteps. But this is a great album, and we love playing it live, especially "I'm the Mountain". When we were working on it, we were just another stoner rock band (at least this is how many people saw us), and doing a 15-min long proggy track with all these mood swings and no choruses at all, could either be a massive failure or a whole new level. And now having your most challenging song being also your main "hit" could mean only one thing - our fans have amazing taste!

How was the process of creating the album?

The idea was to do something different with another record, not repeating ourselves, pushing the envelope and such - and we still have this mindset now. A lot of bands influenced me as a writer back then, Alice in Chains, Tool, Colour Haze, Joy Division, Quest for Fire, Deadbird, Fates Warning, Riverside, Van Der Graaf Generator, Pearl Jam, Anathema… But in the end "Seven Thunders..." sounds hardly like a mere compilation of these, doesn't it? And we're really proud of its longevity and it's a true honour for us to see how many people were touched by Stoned Jesus music.

Send a message about the next concerts in Brazil and for your fans
